Influence: Uncovering the Power of Presence and Persuasion
Who should attend
- Executives, Managers, Supervisors
In the two days, you will experience the power of influence on thought-process, emotions, beliefs and to understand how with influence (and some patience), you are able to affect attitudes and behaviour and achieve your desired outcome. Through a series of facilitated topics, hands-on activities and discussions, this programme is especially effective in driving deep learning; and unlike many traditional training modules, it cultivates a sustainable practice throughout one’s career because Influencing is a skill that is applicable in every facet of and at any point in one’s life. You can practice it all the time and with anyone.
Influence: Uncovering the Power of Presence and Persuasion takes the learner through three main sections: who you influence, what is it you are influencing and how you would influence. Throughout this process, the emphasis is always on the person and not the issues or outcome. That is, you are influencing a person’s impression, mindset, emotions and attitudes in order to affect the decision; and not about manipulating a favourable decision to suit your agenda. It is about the engagement and cultivating a relationship between two or more people.
In order to Influence, one learns to recognise what is within her/his control and where she/he can mitigate against unexpected situations. The programme facilitates the exploration of each learner’s capacity, ability and capability to influence successfully. The method and principles are learnt competencies, and with practice, can be honed and refined.
The andragogy of the learning approach is based on the principles of Learn, Practice and Reflect. Along with every topic comes the acquisition of knowledge, anchored in an activity to practice what was learned and developed further through reflective questions and discourse.

The CAC Principle
The principle of Capacity, Ability and Capability in influencing harnesses the individual competencies and innate values. What it means in essence is that you tap on what you have and use it to the best of your ability. Over time, and with increasing input through the acquisition of knowledge, experience and practice, your capacity and ability to influence grow.
The Capacity refers to one’s existing and finite aptitude. It also includes one’s talent and innate strength of character. The capacity lends itself as a source to the Ability, which translates into the competencies and skills of the individual to handle tasks and situations. The Capability represents the future state where one can potentially develop greater competencies and acquire more experience. This is where the possibilities, potential and opportunities lie in every individual. When capabilities are developed, capacity will inadvertently increase.
In this programme, the CAC Principle forms the “how to” in influencing to achieve better performance at work, and in many ways, life itself. What it does is arm the learner with the ability to manage and apply her/his strengths and work on areas of development. This ability to identify, learn and apply in evolving circumstances makes the CAC Principle a durable and enduring discipline.
