We communicate to get the message across – that’s just part of the communication process. We assume everyone perceives, interprets and processes the message in the way we intend. The meaning of your communication is the response you get. Communications is a learnt skill, and when you excel in it, becomes an art form.
Communication is, first and foremost, an interaction between two or more people. It is made up of touchpoints we create to connect with people. Too often, we hide behind the variety of media and technology, and forget that behind a digital platform is another human being. Neglecting that fact will render our communication less effective and create misunderstanding. That said, we are given tools in the form of artificial intelligence to help us craft our messages. It is critical that we learn to use AI intelligently and understand what it can and cannot do.
In this module, we address how we communicate, and in communicating, we learn to listen, question and respond effectively to the messenger. The initial investment in making sure the message is transmitted accurately and concisely, saves time and resources eventually. More importantly, taking into consideration the relationship will yield a better response, ensure smooth delivery of tasks and create a stronger bond.
