Lean Manufacturing at Workplace

Lean Manufacturing is a systematic approach to process improvement that aims to create value for customers while minimizing waste.

It originated from the Toyota Production System and has been widely adopted in various industries for its efficiency and effectiveness.

Key principles of LEAN manufacturing will be covered:

  • Identifying Value: Understanding what customers value and focusing on delivering that value.
  • Mapping Value Stream: Mapping out the entire process of delivering a product or service to identify areas of waste.
  • Creating Flow: Streamlining processes to ensure smooth and continuous flow of work, materials, and information.
  • Establishing Pull: Producing goods or services based on demand rather than pushing excess inventory into the system.
  • Seeking Perfection: Continuously striving for improvement and eliminating waste in all aspects of operations.

Target Competencies

  • Eight Types of Waste – TIMWOODS
  • Five Principles of LEAN Manufacturing
  • Value Stream Mapping (VSM)
  • Production Capacity & TAKT Time
  • Inventory Control & ABC Analysis
  • Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) & Economic Batch Quantity (EBQ)
  • Components of Kanban & related Calculations
  • Lean Implementation and Preventive Maintenance
  • Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Pillars

Training Outcome

After completing the training, you should be able to:

By the end of the 2 days program, participants will be able to:

  • Identify eight types of production wastes within the organisation, benefits of lean manufacturing and steps to achieve results
  • Apply lean principles to compute production capacity and TAKT time.
  • Perform ABC analysis for inventory classification using selective
    inventory control.
  • Calculate economic batch quantity and number of ‘kanbans’ required.
  • Implement lean manufacturing tools for improved inventory flow and material flow.
  • Implement lean manufacturing in an organization at various levels and within various areas for improvement.
  • Identify performance measurement areas in lean manufacturing and steps required
